10 Time Managemenet Tips for the Home Based Entrepreneur

As a Home Based Entrepreneur, the ability to manage your time and to be as productive as possible throughout the working day, is absolutely vital. Here are 10 quick tips, that I have found useful over the years, as well as some that I have learned more recently from other industry leaders;

Tip No.1 is more of a fundamental; time management is actually a complete misnomer. You cannot manage time, you can only manage yourself in time.


Tip No.2 Always prepare a list of the top 5 or 10 things that you need to accomplish the next day. This can be as simple as opening up wordpad on your computer, these days I use a program called "Evernote".


Tip No.3 To ensure that you wake up productive, know what you are going to wear the night before, sounds simple but minutes count!


Tip No.4 Get up and go to bed at the same times each day. This is one of the number one rituals for success.


Tip No.5 Checking emails is a non money making activity. Check them last and once per day. Continually checking emails is the biggest killer of productivity for any home based entreprenuer.


Tip No.6 Always focus on one task at a time, multi-tasking ruins your concentration and lowers your IQ.


Tip No.7 Plan your learning (training) and productivity as 2 seperate activities, and avoid "information overload at all costs!


Tip No.8 Never answer the telephone, the telephone is for your convenience only. Provide a voicemail service and return calls at an allocated time each day.


Tip No.9 Block out 30-60 minutes for callbacks, prospecting, call-me leads etc. Do it the same time each day.


Tip No.10 Always Schedule time for your family, your kids, your spouse and yourself - having a balanced life is VITAL to avoid burnout.
